How to Choose a Large Air Fryer: Is 10L the Right Size? (UK Guide)
· Ecomx Solution
Air fryers have gone from novelty to everyday kitchen kit, but choosing a size is harder than it looks. Too small and you end up cooking in batches; too big and it takes over the worktop. Here's how to work out whether a large 10L model is right for you.
How much capacity do you need?
As a rough guide, smaller 3–4L models suit one or two people, 5–6L suits a small family, and 8L or more suits bigger households, batch cooking or hosting. Quoted capacity is the volume of the basket, not the amount of food that fits comfortably, so leave some headroom for air to circulate.
What to look for beyond size
- Controls: a digital display with adjustable temperature and timer is easier to use than dials.
- Preset programmes: presets for frying, grilling, baking and roasting take some of the guesswork out of everyday meals.
- Cleaning: a removable basket makes washing up easier. Always check the care instructions for your model.
- Safety features: overheat protection and automatic shut-off are worth having.
Check your worktop first
Large air fryers take up real space. Measure where it will sit, and leave clear room around it, especially at the back where hot air is released. If you would have to store it in a cupboard and lift it out each time, a smaller model may suit you better.
Who suits a 10L air fryer?
A 10L air fryer makes sense if you regularly cook for three or more people, like to cook a main and sides in one go, or often feed guests. If you mostly cook for one or two, you may not use the extra space.
